About BEChem
  Located in the southeast of Beijing and along the side of ancient canal-the north side of Jingjin Road, Beijing Eastern Chemical Works (hereinafter is referred to as BEC) was originally established in 1978. BEC occupies 188 hectares, has 4000 employees and fixed assets of more than 7 billion yuan RMB.
  In 1984, the first set of acrylic acid and acrylates plant in China which was introduced from Japan was constructed and put into operation in BEC, therefore the situation of such products relying on import had been ended since then. When entering into 1990s, BEC enlarged its operation scale through introducing the second and the third set of acrylic acid and acrylates plants, made its nearly 20 kinds of product were among the best of similar products, enjoyed good reputation in China and overseas. Presently, BEC has become a base for the manufacture, research and development of acrylic acid and acrylates with the largest producing scale, the richest assortment of products and the best quality. In 1994, the petrochemical plant mainly producing ethylene and EO/EG was constructed and put into service, which injected new energy for the development of enterprise. BEC has turned into a state large-scale first class petrochemical enterprise from an organic chemical enterprise.
  Through international interchanges and cooperation, BEC has incorporated successively with USA and France and established two joint ventures: the largest acrylic resin and emulsion plant in China-Beijing Eastern Rohm & Haas Co. Ltd, and an advanced surfactants plant-Beijng Rhodia Eastern Chemical Co. Ltd.
  Through reforming activities, BEC organized the Beijng Dongguang Industry Corporation in 1992, which belongs to the third service industry. The No.7 Chemical Factory located in Dahuichang, Fengtai District, Beijing was merged into BEC in 1996 and became its Fine Chemicals Plant.
  The annual output of BEC is close to million tons. It has more than ten kinds of product mainly including: Acrylic acid and acrylates, Ethylene and butadiene, EO/EG, and Fine chemicals four series products.
  Acrylic acid and acrylates can be widely applied to more than ten fields such as construction materials, textile, coating, adhesives, water treatment, hygienic materials and agriculture, which have a bright future of development.
  BEC's acrylic acid and acrylate products in "Yunyan" trademark have been awarded a state gold medal and become products exempt from export examination, which sell well in China and far to Asia, Europe and America. In July of 2000, BEC's ethylene glycol (EG), polymerized grade acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate in "Yunyan" trademark were awarded the title of famous trademark product in Beijing by the Beijing Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau and Beijing Economic Committee. In addition, the Fine Chemicals Plant has also some good and famous products in "Ruibo" trademark.
  BEC successively passed the final certification by UKAS (British) and CNACR (accepted by Beijing ISO9000 Certification Center) in 1999, won the certificate of ISO-9002. Presently BEC is doing the preparatory work for the certification of International Environmental Management System ISO14000.

　　 Eastern Chemical Works (ECW), established in 1978, is located in the southeast of Beijing – the riverside of Ancient Canal to the north of Beijing-Tianjin highway. ECW occupies an area of 1.28 million square meters, has 2,817 employees for the time being, and the existing fixed assets of it amount to 4,700 million yuan

In 1984, the 1st acrylic acid and acrylate production plant, which was introduced from Japan and the first acrylic plant in China, was built and put in to service in ECW, ending the situation of long-term dependence on imported products. ECW was further expanded in the 1990s, introduced in succession the 2nd and 3rd acrylic acid and acrylate production plant. Close to 20 types of its products come out top among the similar products and enjoy the famous reputation in both the mainland and world. It has presently become the production, research and development base for acrylic acid and acrylate products in China with the largest scale, most complete varieties and best quality.

In 1994, the petrochemical plant mainly producing ethylene and ethylene oxide was built and put into service, feeding new energy to the business development.

From 1993 and then on, ECW successively incorporated with the American company and French company and established two JVs: Beijing Eastern Rohm & Haas Co., Ltd. – the largest plant for acrylic resins in China; and Beijing Rhodia Eastern Chemical Co., Ltd. – an advanced surfactant plant

Dec. 26 of 2002, on which the Beijing Eastern Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was officially founded, indicating that the assets recombination between the production plants for ethylene serial products under Beijing Chemical Group, which converted their debts amounting to 8,134 million yuan into the ownership right, and SINOPEC has completed. From then on, ECW, acting as the leading enterprise of Beijing Eastern Petrochemical Co., Ltd., was officially merged into the SINOPEC.

ECW has mainly three serial products including the Acrylic Acid (Acrylate), Ethylene and EO/EG series, possesses some dozens of products and the annual total volume of logistics has reached 1 million tons. Acrylic acid and its esters are widely applied to more than 10 industrial fields, including the building materials, textile, coating, adhesives, water treatment, sanitary accessories and agriculture etc., having a very bright future in application and development.

ECW always pays great attention to the product quality. Its acrylic acid and acrylates in “Yun Yan” trademark have won the State Golden Medal and become the inspection-exempted export product, owned a good market all over China and been sold far to Asia, Europe and America. July of 2000, our products in “Yun Yan” trademark, including polymer-grade acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate and ethylene glycol, were awarded the title of “Beijing Famous-Brand Products” by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision and Beijing Economic Committee.

ECW’s Quality Targets:
● Rate of best quality acrylic acid and its esters: ≥ 99.5%
● Rate of best quality ethylene and ethylene glycol: ≥ 95%
● Yield of ethylene and propylene ≥45%
● Quality of packaging and shipment: 100% assured
● Customer’s satisfaction: ≥ 90%

　　 ECW smoothly passed the final assessment of Beijing Jiu Qian (9000) Certification Center in 1999, which is approved by the UKAS (the Britain) and CNACR (China), and won the Certificate of ISO9002 (1994); was awarded the Certificate of ISO9001 (2000) on Nov. 28 of 2002, which was issued jointly by the domestic agency and UKAS (the Britain), and this certificate is valid until Nov. 27 of 2005. On Feb. 16, 2001, its acrylic acid and its esters (i.e., the most competitive products of ECW including polymer-grade acrylic acid, methyl/ethyl/butyl acrylate) won the “Certificate of Beijing Products Applying International Standard” issued by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision and the “Certificate of Products Applying International Standard” issued by the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision at the same time, which indicated that the prevailing standards and product quality for the above four products have arrived at the international advanced level.

June 5 of 2001, ECW passed the certification of ISO14001, which was assessed by the Environmental Control System Certification Center under China Environmental Science Academy.

April 16, 2003, ECW won the Certificate of ISO10012-1 Metering Detection System issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of PRC.
